* Range on all mobility scooters is dependent on battery condition, terrain, user weight, and ambient temperature.
** Safe angle can suddenly be compromised by uneven ground and going off to one side, and is dependent upon user weight, which alters the centre of gravity. Please, especially, confirm this figure with the manufacturer.
*** Flashing beacons are a requirement on UK dual carriageways (not recommended you go on one) but are a good safety feature for any road use.
TGA Supersport
I spent £1500 on Ebay for my first off-road mobility scooter, a secondhand TGA Supersport. It seemed like a lot of money at the time but it was life changing. Again, for the first time since my back worsened, I could enjoy rambling through the countryside, on and off-road, for with its big wheels and reasonable tread it could manage a lot of mud, and get over tree roots, etc. However I did manage to roll it down a riverbank when the tyres, which were caked in mud, slipped on the incline when reversing.
I kept the Supersport for about a year and covered hundreds of miles on it, I even had it adapted by a local engineering company so that the handlebars could fold flat, and the seatback lift off, so with a hoist I could fit it into my Seat Alhambra, see the scrolling photos at the top. However the TGA Supersport has no suspension at all, the front spring is purely decorative, and that didn't suit my back problems, so I sold it and moved on to a Mini Crosser, however for anyone without a back problem who wants to try off-roading for, relatively, not a lot of money, the TGA Supersport is worth trying, it's also available on Motability.
